Possible reasons why Mvelopes (see 0928-04) is inferior to using BuxBox to serve a "Christian Family Unit" or even perhaps a "Small Ministry."
BuxBox might be better for the following reasons:
>> Might be less costly --- not a monthly charge, but onetime charge as you make use of older versions of QBs-- Emphasis NOT include Quicken or Money
>> BuxBox more fully displays the valuable "Two sides of the same coin" financial information. Info not scattered, but you put in all under one roof. Or you put on one side, the reports clearly answers the question of "Where is our Money" at a point in time. But more importantly, BuxBox fully shows on the other side the "Imposed Limits" of "Why do we have this Money?" It is the "Imposed Limits" essential information that is critical in order for you to maintain control and make righteous spending decisions. All too often people make such decisions from "Where is our Money" side only. Or they have numerous Bank Accounts (checking or savings) toward this goal, which leads to administrative nightmares and unnecessary burdens. Plus they do not have the opportunity to earn the maximum yield on such Bank balances.
>> Can make use of QuickBooks (QBs) Classes for such things as:
-- Clearly ID Tax Deductible items for annual reporting purposes
-- ID Types of Income and Expenses for needed statistical info.
>> As desirable, you have the option of making full use of the FLOAT factor in your Credit Card process where you buy now and pay later with no extra costs.
>> The BuxBox system also gives you the ability to display within your reports certain financial memo accts of either non operational SetASides Savings --- maybe money you plan to spend after six months, etc. Plus you can also report on the status of other Non-Cash assets/accounts
>> Many times your overall plan is to reduce old unpaid Liabilities. The BuxBox system can also display memo status of old Liabilities (examples are: Old credit card balances plus old unpaid School loans, etc). Integrated with this you can make full use of three-legged entry process whereby you charge the applicable BuxBox but you can also reduce the Liability balance and increase the Memo Account Offset, etc.
>> BuxBox Helpers/Coaches (who often are accountants who are well acquainted with debit/credits) can better utilize this system, etc.Mvelopes might be better for the following reasons:
>> Web based (there is no software on the user's computer) might not be a PLUS with some people
>> Automatic and clean movement of Bank and CrCards Tranx/content to the Mvelopes system
>> Although can arrange to have Bank Tranx go to QBs system -- not use if CrCard tranx can go to QBs
>> The easiness of dragging/dropping of amounts to applicable Envelopes , etc
